Fall '07 Campout    Teen Queen    Gold Hill Parade    Fall '07 Retiree Campout      Fall '06 Campout

Fall '06 Fashion Show

The 2007 North Carolina Fall Campout

Forty-three units attended the Fall Campout. That’s about  20% of the state’s total

By way of comparison, twenty-seven units participated at the Piedmont District Campout.

The attendance at the State Campouts is shrinking as is the state’s membership.  Enough statistics.

The high point of the program was Friday evening.  Auctioneer Donnie Overman (Pine State Campers) provided several of us a chance to clean out some of our unused camping gear and gave someone else a chance to use it.    The auction  raised $318.85 to help cover the cost of publishing the State Association Newsletter.

Happenings: the board of directors met, The Teen Queen showed the audience what she will do in the Teen Queen Pageant, Mary, State Director, presented the 2nd place newsletter award to the editor of the Chair City Chatter, and Betty, Youth Director, did the same with a Participation Certificate and ribbon for Maggie’s entry in the Poster Contest.

The most appreciated activity was the Randolph Ramblers’ providing a dinner of hamburgers and fixins'.

Katie of the Chair City Chapter was crowned North Carolina’s Teen Queen.  She will represent the state in the National Teen Queen competition at the 2008 National Campvention in Centre Hall, PA next summer.  She turned 14 just in time to be eligible for Teen Queen.

She is a Freshman in High School. She plays clarinet in her school’s Spartan Legion Marching Band.  She swam for the Brookside Barracudas, as did her sister Maggie.  She loves animals, making clay figures, drawing, and singing.

Virginia, NC’s reigning Teen Queen, had the honor of passing her title to Katie.

GOLD HILL PARADE

Fall Campout attendees participated in The Gold Hill Founder’s Day Parade.  Our Teen Queen rode regally atop the rear deck of a convertible.  The rest of the gang clambered aboard a Culp Brothers low boy truck and threw candy to the crowd or walked handing out FCRV brochures.

FCRV made its presence known in Gold Hill.

The 2007 North Carolina Fall Retiree Campout

About ten couples of the Traveling Tar heels, the retiree chapter, gathered the Monday before the Statewide at Fleetwood.  The chapter, which is open to any retired campers in the state, generally meets twice each year during the week before the statewide and at the same location.

This is a rather laid back group of folks unencumbered by a bunch of rules.  The primary activities include playing games, eating, and story telling—some of which may even be true!

The 2006 North Carolina Fall Campout

Home run!

Three points!

North Carolina has another winner in the "Camping Is" poster contest.

And a first place in the National Newsletter competition.

FCRVers are noted for their ability to eat--all the time. Hot dogs and 'burgers" comeing up!

It's a party. The tea and soda flow. And, invariably, someone over does it. Here he brought before the RV Park judge.

While it may not be Paris or New York,

our prestigious models walked the run-way in Marion at the

North Carolina FCRV Fall Fashion Show.

Tank tops and cargo pants.

This style is ubiquitous among our teenage population.

A-Line skirt

Our own model sturts this original treatment of a classic style, the A-line skirt.

The bear back gown.

This exquisite gown is perfect for such form al parties as our Fall Campout dinner--this one was even catered.

The "Baby Doll" look.

Another seen at our Spring Campout.

The slip over dress.

Again, this is one of our more formal outfits designed for comfort.

A hard riding cow-girl.

Isn't she just a little out of place at an RV convention?

Dots

The flower pattern robe with house shoes is especially appropriate in and around the rig in the early morning.

Our model wearing her LL Bean jacket furiously tries to beat out the flames of her hot pants.

This gentleman sports a pin striped suit and aligator shoes. The suit, by the way, is for sale.

Another formal gown; this one with a scoop neckline.

Balloon hemline

Such extravagance! This is a one-of-a-kind, 14 carrot necklace.

Print shirt and bell bottoms. Didn't this style go out when this model was a meer teen?

Dunno

What can be said?

Two old men, too big hats, and a long beard.
